Palm Desert Real Estate News

Greetings from Sunny South Palm Desert!

New in October....

Cooler Temps!

New Retail Store Openings!

Lots of great properties are on the Market!

For those of us who live in South Palm Desert there has been a lot of changes on El Paseo and in Palm Desert this summer.

New stores such as Apple , Kate Spade and Juicy Couture have opened with many more to come. Starbucks on El Paseo will certainly be busy this year with all the additional retail that has joined us.

Traveling  up the hill to South Palm Desert  many remodels have taken place.  The local market is definitely picking up and it is evident as you drive around.

As owners in The Summit, Don and I are seeing lots of activity with  properties moving and many folks previewing homes that want to live in our community. Low homeowners dues and luxury homes make for a very desirable place to put on your list of must sees! The Summit prices range from $520,000 on a remodel up to $975,000 with a view of Eisenhower mountain. Look for new listings in the coming months. Call me to be the first to see these fine properties!

.
The Summit is next door to another popular community, Monterra. I would suggest if you are looking in this area to not miss the home that is $699,000 and has a view you do not want to miss. Monterra, which is a 24 hour gated community, offers homes priced from $679,000 to $769,000.

On the way to Monterra from the Summit is the Palm Desert Tennis Club, a 100 unit, very active Social and Tennis Club. One of these spacious condo's in PDTC was previously owned by Rod Laver who won 11 Grand slam Tennis titles.
Yes this is my listing, so make sure you take a look if you are in the market for a great condo in a unique, friendly Club.
Prices at the Palm Desert Tennis Club range from $279,000-$329,000 for a 3 bedroom /2 bath.

Last but not least, Ironwood Country Club continues to upgrade its streets, medians and Clubhouses.  From 2 bedroom weekend getaways to multi million dollar luxury estates, Ironwood  Country Club has it all.
One particular property I have shown a lot this summer is a newer home with over 4000 square feet and fantastic views. Lots of interest in this property and I would love to showcase it to anyone who is in the market for a great home.

These are just a few of the many great Communities in South Palm Desert and the Coachella Valley. Please call or visit my website to preview and find out why we love the Desert!

Hiking in Palm Desert

As a hiker for many years I thought you might enjoy some information about  the trails in the  Palm Desert / Desert Cities area.

Living in  The Summit area of South Palm Desert, there are many trails within easy driving distance.  Of course in the summer we go early or later on in the day, packing lots of water and my trusty hiking pole that has been with me for many years.

Besides hiking I enjoy walking up the sidewalk on Hwy 74 next to Bighorn Country Club . On Friday's there are tons of cars coming over from San Diego to enjoy our weather for the weekend.

Also in the summer we play evening tennis at Palm Desert Tennis Club, where we are members and yes we start at 6:30 PM but it gets cool fast when the sun goes down.
We love the summers  in the desert . Enjoy the picture of a moonlight hike in July

Hiking Trails

Palm Desert offers a variety of trails for hiking enthusiasts as well as those who simply love the outdoors and the rich history of Palm Desert and the Santa Rosa San Jacinto National Monument.

Hopalong Cassidy Trail

American movie and television cowboy icon Hopalong Cassidy was portrayed by Palm Desert resident William Boyd. Mr. Boyd was known for giving his “Hoppy” wooden nickels to children, and teaching them his tips on good citizenship (known as “Hoppy’s Creed”). The Trail was dedicated on January 31, 2004 by his widow, Grace Bradley Boyd, who said that “Hoppy and Topper would have loved the trail and encouraged everyone to enjoy it and practice trail safety.”

Randall Henderson Trail

Randall Henderson was instrumental in the development of Palm Desert. An author, desert explorer, and early visionary, he realized the area's potential and began to document its history and growth in The Desert Magazine, a periodical he published from the 1930’s through the 1960’s. The Randall Henderson Trail was dedicated on February 5, 2005, by family members.

Herb Jeffries Trail

This trail is a tribute to the legendary “Bronze Buckaroo,” Herb Jeffries, a film star and recording artist who, in the era of popular western movies, created a cowboy hero for African Americans. Mr. Jeffries, a former Palm Desert resident, performed and spoke at the trail dedication on April 2, 2005.
