Coachella Valley Home Sales rise 9.4%

Coachella Valley Home sales rose 9.4 percent in September compared to September 2010 as reported in the Desert Sun .
This outpaced Riverside County and Southern California .

The valley's strength as a second-home market continues to help drive sales. One positive sign was that the percentage of distressed sales continues to fall, said Greg Berkemer, executive vice president of the California Desert Association of Realtors.
Since January of this year, 8,399 valley homes and condos have sold in the Palm Springs area . That’s nearly 5% more than in the first nine months of the previous year of 2010 as reported by DataQuick  The Coachella valley is on track to see more than 10,000 home and condo sales this year.

“A recovering market needs to see that continue every month,” said Berkemer, noting, “The desert had a better-than-expected summer.

BNP Paribas Open 2011 Economic Impact

INDIAN WELLS CALIFORNIA
BNP PARIBAS OPEN

MARCH 5-18, 2012

A report recently released indicated the 2011 BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, Ca attracted 350,086 people  and put $289.9 million into the Palm Springs area economy last March. It is an increase of about $188 million from 2001 when the first report was complied.

This approaches Super Bowl proportions, not bad for our little valley of 320,000 folk's!

This is the most attended tennis tournament outside of the four Grand Slams and continues to grow.
As a tennis fan and player I am very excited to have the opportunity to have this type of premier tennis event in our backyard.

It does not get better than this for avid tennis player's along with the social tennis crowd!

I can play tennis at Palm Desert Tennis Club in the morning and be at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells in 15 minutes !!
Every year the new owner Larry Ellison spends the funds to make the event even better.
Looking at these numbers you better think about booking a room early if you can still find something available.
It is only October and the valley is active . Lot's of snowbirds are coming back for the season ready to enjoy another great season in the desert.
